This series of films are the best adaptation of a comic book heroe to the big sreen ever. Awesome casts on both films (to bad about the change in Rachel Dowes), spectacular special FX, great script (very real, very well written, very well adopted to the present day). If we honestly analize it, this Batman just fights the two major threats of our days: terror(personified by Ledger's incredible Joker) and corruption.
To all who hasn't seen the second of the new Batman flicks, don't read this!!!!
The question that hangs in the balance now is: having done these great 2 movies, can the same crew do it again? (it is very important that the crew stays the same. Same Alfred, Lucious, Batman/Wayne, Gordon, director, special efects dudes, and so foward...)
When asked, Nolan said it would depend on getting a third great story. Well, I think, if it is written by the same people, that's not so difficult. I say this because, like in the first movie, at the and of the second, the story is left unfinished:
When asked, Nolan said it would depend on getting a third great story. Well, I think, if it is written by the same people, that's not so difficult. I say this because, like in the first movie, at the and of the second, the story is left unfinished:
- now Batman begins to truly be hunted down by the police force and loses is status as a heroe. Only Gordon knows what he truly is and how much his ready to sacrifice to protect Gotham. On the other hand, even if Ledger can no longer play him, the Joker did not die, cause the Batman wouldn't allow him to. It is from that scene that my favourite line from this movie emerges:
Joker: "This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object!"
- also, even if Ras Al Gul apparently has died in the first film, he has a tendency to avoid death and reapear once again. If they would bring him back, it would close the story cicle. He would want to both, to get his revenge on Batman (and he even knows his identity) and to finish the destruction of Gotham. To do that he springs the Joker out of whatever mental institution they put him in, but in secret... from the Shadows he pulls these strings. He could even kill Alfred to inflict pain on Bruce Wayne. Should this character reapear it would be nice to see Liam Neeson again. And since we are on the topic, I would pic Johnny Depp to play the third Joker. I think he would even enjoy the challenge.
- but, should they not want to resumone the League Of Shadows, and keeping with the spirit of the other 2 films, I know of two good stories that they could draw the third movie: Deadly Knights and a mini-series of 3 stories of Batman in which Deathstroke (both a villain and an anti-heroe) appears. Here are the covers of both books:
They shouldn't risk a cross over with Marvel, much could be lost. But if they could cross the two stories, since in one we have Deathstroke who can easily take the part of the Punisher, and in the other we have the Joker, who is one of the loose ends of the Dark Knight, I think that they could find a good enough storie between them, with the on going theme: Batman does not kill!
Either way, to ignore the Joker in the third movie would be a bad mistake, in my opinion. Much of the story could be about his origins, left in darkness in the last chapter. Nolan said it was done so that the Joker could appear has an "absolute".
And this is just what I can come up with in a night I couldn't sleep!!! So give it a rest with the excuses and get to writing, mr Nolan and associates!!! lol
